 dynamic acceleration
LastModified: Friday, May 15, 1998

A feature supported by some mice drivers that causes the mouse resolution to depend on how fast the mouse is moved. When you move the mouse fast, the cursor moves proportionally further (the resolution is low). This is useful for jumping across the screen. Without this feature, you might need to sweep the mouse several times to move the cursor from one side of the display screen to the other. When you move the mouse slowly, the resolution increases to enable you to pinpoint specific pixels.

Dynamic resolution is also called ballistic tracking, automatic acceleration, variable acceleration, and dynamic acceleration.
