 carrier's carrier
LastModified: Wednesday, November 29, 2006

A carrier's carrier is a telecommunications industry business model where a carrier sells or leases bandwidth on its own infrastructure to another telecom carrier for reselling to their own customers. There are two applications for carrier's carrier; the customer carrier is an Internet service provider (ISP), or the customer carrier is an MPLS VPN provider. Also called carrier-of-carriers.

Telephony Online: A carrier's carrier
These relationships are as varied as the IXC customers. IXCs are not a monolithic customer segment to be dealt with using a cookie cutter approach. They represent a wide range of needs driven by their marketing strategies, internal resources, capital funding and customer requirements.

Telephony Online: Not just a carrier's carrier
The fastest way to get media attention in the telecommunications business these days is to offer cheap Internet telephony rates. It worked for Denver-based Qwest Communications Corp., when it announced plans to roll out nationwide 7.5 cents-per-minute long-distance calling over its Internet protocol-based, fiber optic network in December 1997.
